WEEE Recycling

You can now recycle your old electrical with us.
If your buying a new electrical item, we will recycle your old one for free

Unwanted electrical equipment is the UK's fastest growing type of waste. Many electrical items can be repaired or recycled, saving natural resources and the environment. If you do not recycle, electrical equipment will end up in landfill where hazardous substances will leak out and cause soil and water contamination - harming wildlife and also human health.

We can help

TIK Products is pleased to offer our customers free take-back of their WEEE on a like-for-like basis when they buy a new electrical or electronic product from us. For example, if a customer bought a new cordless drill from us we would accept their old cordless drill and prevent it going into a landfill site by disposing of it safely. Customers must return their WEEE item to us within 28 days of purchasing their new item. The cost of returning any item for disposal is to be met by the customer.

To remind you that old electrical equipment can be recycled, it is now marked with a crossed out wheeled bin symbol. Please do not throw any electrical equipment including those marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol) in your bin.

WEEE

What is WEEE?

The Waste Electrical or Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive requires countries to maximise seperate collection and environmentally friendly processing of these items. In the UK, distributors (inc retailers) must provide a system which allows all customers buying new electrical equipment the opportunity to recycle their old items free of charge. Those establishing their own take-back scheme must as a minimum, offer all non-business customers buying new electrical equipment, free take-back of their old electricals on a like-for-like basis.

For more information on WEEE recycling, please locate and contact your local recycling centre.

Waste batteries

Under the waste battery regulations, TIK Products is also offering a take back scheme for all portable waste batteries. You can return your old batteries to our trade counter when you visit us (please do not by post). In many cases it may be easier for you to visit a local shopping centre as most supermarkets and shops that sell batteries will have collection bins for used batteries. Customers may find stores in their local area more accessible. Alternatively, you can find your local recycling facility at www.recyclenow.co.uk
